Lighting

My experience of lighting has grown thanks to tutelage received from the very able team of Dalton Ellis Theatre Company's SPODs (Andrew Emison, Anthony Purvis and Phillip Williams) and later opportunities to put it into effect elsewhere. As a director I have been able to describe what I wanted to lighting technicians and select appropriate gels (I'm glad to know the difference between palace and congo blue!). I've also designed special effects for Hall balls at Birks Halls, Exeter University, designed and erected my own budget rig for our under £100 production of Alcestis.

The one we used!
Most recently, I advised on gobos for a school production with a piratical flavour that lost its pirate ship set two weeks before performance.

Hall Balls (see also, Cosutme/Set)
Under the Sea - moving waves, columns of rising bubbles and moving light reflectsions from water to give atmosphere to entrance halls, the casino room and various displays.
Hollywood - Static clapper boards, movie cameras and film strips in strategic locations on walls and floors.
Space - Twinkling stars; static planets etc.
